Hey guys! And welcome to my December 2016 income report- my first report over here on Digital Income Mom. I actually did something really exciting in December- I split up my site into three different sites. You can now find me at PlanningInspired.com (my original site), plus now I am at HealthyMomBalance.com where I chat about motherhood and personal development, and taking care of me, and here on Digital Income Mom where I am sharing what I know about making an income from home online.
I did move over my previous income reports, which you can find here.
A little something different I’m doing this month- I’m sharing my actual income & expenses amounts. Previously, I kind of avoided doing this and just shared the breakdown of how my income came about- whether it was advertising, sponsored posts, etsy, etc.. but I figured what the hay, let’s just do it all the way or not at all, right? So, I’m sharing the juicy details and avoiding vagueness in this report. You won’t see any generic “freelancing” or “writing” categories in my income. I’m breaking it all down so you can see what I’ve done.
Okay, so my income total for December 2016 was $9,143
Here’s a breakdown of where it came from.
This is income that I actually received in December. Some blogging income sources, such as advertising and sponsored posts pay on a delayed schedule- it can take 30-90 days to get paid, so I am trying to share JUST the income I actually received for previous work, not work that I haven’t been paid for yet, I hope that makes sense.
December 2016 Income
Digital Products: $3,159
This comes from my printables on Etsy, and from my shop over at planninginspired.com
Physical Products: $3,876
This comes from my sticker sales on Etsy!
Sponsored Posts Income: $1,800
Some sponsored posts networks I use regularly include Social Fabric, Real Clever, iConnect, Izea, and Influence Central. This was a very high month for me for sponsored posts because in the past few previous months I set a goal to get a certain amount of posts for the month, and I reached it! I’ve since slacked off on those, so this number will go down next month.
Affiliate Income: $148
This comes from the Dating Divas from promoting the Christmas Bundle, and Amazon Associates.
Ad Revenue: $160
My last check from Adsense for Planning Inspired. I am now using Mediavine on that site, and Google Adsense on the others, but those won’t be earning money for a while, most likely. Mediavine has a 3 month turnaround so I won’t begin getting payments from them until March.
I enjoyed looking at the percentages of where my income comes from in my previous income reports, so I still wanted to share that as well. Here’s the breakdown.
34% Digital Products
42% Physical Products
20% Sponsored Posts
2% Affiliate Income
2% Ad Revenue
I would obviously love for my ad revenue and affiliate income percentages to take up a larger chunk, and that’s what I’m going to be working on in the coming months. My sponsored posts percentage will go back down, and I’d like for digital products to take up a larger percentage than physical products. My eventual goal is to get to where my other income streams are doing well enough that I can take breaks from the Etsy shop to work on other projects. I’d like to be able to put my shop in vacation mode for a week here and there to give myself a little more time to build up other things.
Okay, so for expenses there are a lot of little categories, especially in regards to my shop supplies and things like that, so I’m just going to give you guys the total and then list what I spend money on for my business.
Expenses total: $2,765
Net Income for December: $6,378
My expenses include:
Shop supplies, including packaging supplies, paper, ink, my sticker paper, of course, any clipart or other digital elements I purchase for designing, etc.
A few supplies costs for the blog, items I use for blog posts, etc…
My hosting, I use Bluehost to host all of my blogs
Godaddy for their bookkeeping, and my domain names
Tailwind for Pinterest
Microsoft Office subscription
ConvertKit for my email list
Next, here’s a breakdown of site traffic for December. I know that my brand new sites probably have next to no traffic, but I want to keep track of this, as well as how my social media accounts are growing. Pageviews are for the month of December, and follower counts are as of January 16, 2017.

I am only using the one Pinterest account for social media, because I pin about things all across the board there. I just started building the new accounts and it is going really well. I can’t wait to see my progress when I do next month’s income report!
So there we have it! I am looking forward to 2017, building my new sites, and continuing to grow Planning Inspired and sharing all my planner goodness over there! If you have any questions please leave them in the comments below! I will do my best to check frequently and answer any of them!
